About Phangan Guide
Written by people who actually live here
Phangan Guide started as a simple idea: most travel content about Koh Phangan is either outdated, copy-pasted from the same three sources, or written by someone who visited once for a week. We live here. Prices, ferry schedules, rental scams, the best time to hit a waterfall before the tour buses arrive — we update this stuff because we actually run into it.
Who writes this
We're a small group of long-term residents and expats — some here since 2019, others more recent — covering the things we get asked about constantly: bike rental, visas, money, parties, beaches, and the everyday logistics of living on a Thai island. You'll see bylines like Nick, Anna, Mike and Sam on the blog and news sections — real people, not a content farm.
How we keep it accurate
- Prices are checked against what we or people we know actually paid, not official rate cards
- We flag when something is seasonal, negotiable, or likely to change
- If a business or rental shop has a bad reputation, we say so directly instead of staying vague
- Pages get revisited and updated rather than left to rot — dates on articles reflect real updates
How we make money
Some pages link to partner businesses we personally trust and use — Centerpoint (cafe, hotel, rental, coworking) and Rental Point (motorbike rental) are two examples. These partnerships don't change what we write; if a partner is bad at something, we still won't recommend that part of their business. We don't run banner ads or accept payment for positive reviews.
