Island-hopping: Samui ↔ Phangan ↔ Koh Tao
This is the route a lot of people actually care about — Samui, Phangan and Koh Tao sit in a tight triangle, and plenty of visitors base themselves on one and day-trip or party-hop to another, especially around Full Moon Party. Roughly 10–12 combined daily sailings run between Samui and Phangan alone across the three main operators.
| Route | Operator | Typical price |
|---|---|---|
| Samui → Phangan | Seatran / Songserm (speedboat, ~45 min) | ~200 baht |
| Samui → Phangan | Lomprayah (high-speed catamaran, ~30 min) | ~250 baht |
| Phangan → Koh Tao | Lomprayah / Songserm (~1–1.5 hrs) | 250–350 baht |
| Samui → Phangan → Koh Tao combo | Lomprayah single booking, all 3 islands | ~700–800 baht |
Prices vary by season and how far ahead you book — treat these as ballpark figures, not a quote.
Getting to Phangan from Samui for the Full Moon Party
Regular scheduled ferries stop running by around 17:00–18:00— long before the party even starts. If you're coming from Samui just for the night, that's not the boat you want anyway.
On Full Moon Party nights specifically, separate speedboat operators run through the night, roughly 01:00–06:00, purely for people heading back to Samui after the party ends at dawn. These aren't the same companies or schedule as the daytime ferries — book through a FMP-specific tour desk or ticket seller in Samui, and buy your return ticket in advance if you have a specific time in mind, since the best slots sell out first on a busy full moon. See our Full Moon Party guide for the rest of the logistics.
Ferry Companies
- Raja Ferry — the only company that takes vehicles (cars and bikes). Runs between Surat Thani (Don Sak port) and Phangan.
- Seatran Ferry — fast ferries. Routes: Samui ↔ Phangan, Surat Thani ↔ Phangan.
- Lomprayah — high-speed catamarans. Koh Tao ↔ Phangan ↔ Samui ↔ Surat Thani.
- Songserm — budget ferries, slightly slower.
The Island Pier
All ferries arrive at Thong Sala — the island's main and only port. Here you will find ticket offices, cafes, exchange booths, bike rental and taxis. Most beaches are 15–40 minutes from the pier by motorbike.
