Wakeboarding on Koh Phangan

Chaloklum Bay — flat water, real operator, no cable park anymore

Chaloklum Bay area, Koh Phangan

Not something most people expect to find on Phangan, but it's real and genuinely well run — Chaloklum, the fishing village on the island's north side, has a proper wakeboarding operation that's been going for close to two decades.

Wake Up! Wakeboarding

The island's first and, at this point, only real wakeboarding operator — boat-based, not a cable park (see below). Based in Chaloklum village, office opposite Malibu Resort. Established for over 18 years, making it the most long-running boat wakeboarding operation on any Thai island, not a seasonal pop-up.

  • Location: Chaloklum village, opposite Malibu Resort
  • Price: roughly 1,200–4,300 baht depending on session length/package
  • Booking: a deposit (14–20% of total, non-refundable) usually secures a reservation — check their site for current packages before travelling out specifically for it

Why Chaloklum Bay specifically

The bay is a genuinely good wakeboarding spot on its own merits, not just the only option — a roughly 3km stretch of water surrounded by the island's tallest mountains, which gives strong wind protection and some of the flattest water anywhere in the Gulf of Thailand. That combination matters more than it sounds for both beginners learning their first pop-up and experienced riders wanting clean conditions.

The cable park is gone — don't plan around it

If you've seen older articles mentioning a wakeboard cable park on Phangan, that's Wake Park Phangan, and it's permanently closed. Boat wakeboarding with Wake Up! is the only real option on the island now — worth knowing before you build a trip around outdated info.
