STI Testing, Urology & Gynaecology on Koh Phangan

Not something most guides cover, but genuinely useful to know before you need it, not while you're trying to figure it out in a hurry. Here's what actually exists on the island.

STI & HIV testing — yes, and it's genuinely good

• Chlamydia treatment — discreet antibiotic treatment if needed, plus partner notification support
• PEP/PrEP — HIV prevention treatment, worth knowing this exists here at all
• Anonymous testing options and pre/post-test counselling

Coverage extends across Haad Rin, Thong Sala, Chaloklum, Ban Tai and Srithanu — they'll come to your hotel/villa for testing in a lot of cases, not just clinic-only. Gynaecology — not on the island, and that's worth knowing before you need it

Straight answer: there is no gynaecologist practising on Koh Phangan. The nearest is Dr. Rapheephan Clinic on Koh Samui, running for over a decade, specifically focused on women's and family health at reasonable prices — the standard referral point for anyone here needing an actual gynaecological consultation, not just a general checkup. First Western Hospital's on-island lab can run some basic tests (pregnancy screening, for instance), but a proper gynaecological exam means the ferry to Samui.

Urology — same situation

No dedicated urologist is based on Phangan either. The island's general hospitals and clinics can handle common issues (a UTI, for example) as part of general medicine, but anything that actually needs a urology specialist means travelling to Samui or Phuket, similar to gynaecology.

The honest takeaway

Phangan is genuinely well set up for STI/HIV testing specifically — better than a lot of similarly-sized islands, honestly.
