About Haad Rin

Haad Rin (Hat Rin) sits on the south-eastern peninsula of Koh Phangan and is split into two beaches: Haad Rin Nok (Sunrise Beach, where the FMP takes place) and Haad Rin Nai (Sunset Beach), separated by just a few hundred metres of road.

Outside of Full Moon Party nights, Haad Rin is a pleasant beach town with a lively bar strip, good restaurants, travel agencies and plenty of budget bungalows.

Full Moon Party

Every full moon, 10,000–30,000 people descend on Haad Rin Nok for one of the world's most famous beach parties. Dozens of bar stalls line the sand, fire shows light up the night, and multiple stages pump out different sounds from midnight until well after sunrise.

  • Entry: 100–200 baht (wristband on the beach)
  • Drinks: cocktail buckets 100–150 baht, beer 80–120 baht
  • Getting there: bike or water taxi 200 baht from Thong Sala — often the easier option on FMP nights
  • Safety: don't swim drunk, watch your drink, leave valuables at the hotel

Getting to Haad Rin

The road from Thong Sala crosses a steep mountain pass — 25 minutes by bike. Songthaew pickups run from Thong Sala (150–200 baht). On FMP nights, water taxis from Thong Sala pier (200 baht) are the most hassle-free option.

Accommodation & Food

Haad Rin has the island's densest concentration of budget guesthouses. Backpacker hostels from around 300 baht/night; beachfront bungalows from 800 baht. Food options range from cheap Thai street food to proper sit-down restaurants — Om Ganesh for North Indian, Lucky Crab for fresh seafood, Monnalisa for Italian, Bite Delight for Spanish/Portuguese, and Bayshore for a beachfront sunset dinner.
