About Hin Kong
Hin Kong sits on the west coast within easy reach of Thong Sala, and it's stayed noticeably less developed than the beaches further north — a long bay with fishing boats moored offshore, budget bungalow operations, and wide sand flats that appear at low tide. It's not a "wow" beach, and that's rather the appeal: cheap, quiet, and genuinely local.
What to expect
At low tide the water pulls well back, exposing sand flats rather than a swim-up beach — worth timing your visit around the tide if swimming is the goal. It's a good base if you're on a tight budget and want proximity to Thong Sala without paying west-coast tourist prices.
Getting there
About 10–15 minutes by bike from Thong Sala, heading north along the coast road.
Good to know
- Check the tide before planning a swim — low tide leaves mostly sand flats
- One of the more affordable places to base yourself near Thong Sala
- Quieter and more low-key than Haad Yao or Srithanu further along the same coast
