Bubba's Roastery
Bubba's is one of the few places on Phangan actually roasting its own coffee rather than just brewing someone else's beans β they've been at it since 2018, sourcing green coffee from farms up in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Tak and roasting it on-site at the Haad Yao shop. That "we roast here" detail is a big part of why it comes up so often when people talk about good coffee on this island.
The original spot is tucked right into the Haad Yao area between the villas and the beach, which makes it a natural stop if you're already out that way for the beach or sunset. A newer branch opened down near the Thong Sala pier for people who want the same coffee without riding out to Haad Yao β handy if you've just come off the ferry.
Regulars talk about the roastery angle specifically β freshness you can taste, and a bit of pride from the staff in walking you through where the beans are from if you ask. It's more of a coffee-and-brunch stop than a work-all-day cafe, but nobody's going to rush you off a table either.
Which location to pick
- Haad Yao β the original, right by the beach, worth combining with a swim or sunset
- Thong Sala β closer to the pier, banks and ferry terminal, better if you're short on time
