Samui's rolling out 5 new tourism 'styles' for 2026 — worth knowing if you're island-hopping

·Phangan Guide
Following on from Samui's World's Best Island win, the tourism push behind it is getting more concrete — five distinct "styles" for 2026, worth knowing if a Samui stop is part of your trip. 🌺
The five styles
- Luxury — Michelin-level dining pushes and high-end resort experiences
- Wellness — world-class retreats, leaning into the same wellness-tourism wave that's already huge on Phangan
- Festivals & culture — art festivals and cultural showcases
- Nature adventure — including beachfront marathons and outdoor activity pushes
- Community tourism — coral-planting activities and similar hands-on, give-back experiences
Why this matters for Phangan too
A lot of these overlap with what already draws people here — wellness and community/environmental tourism especially. Given how many visitors do Samui and Phangan as one trip (ferry between them takes under an hour), a stronger wellness/festival push on Samui likely means more people discovering Phangan's own yoga scene and ecstatic dance/cacao circuit on the same trip, not fewer.
