About Mae Haad
Mae Haad's signature feature is the natural sandbar connecting the beach to Koh Ma, a small uninhabited islet just offshore — you can walk the whole way across on packed white sand, especially at low tide. It's one of those spots that photographs even better than it sounds.
Snorkelling
The reef around Koh Ma and along the sandbar is genuinely one of the best shore-accessible snorkelling spots on the island — no boat required, just walk out and swim. Bring your own mask or rent one from the beachfront restaurants.
Getting there
About 20–25 minutes by bike from Thong Sala, on the northwest coast road. An easy, flat ride compared to the mountain routes elsewhere on the island.
Good to know
- Time your visit around low tide for the best sandbar walk to Koh Ma
- A handful of restaurants right on the beach make this an easy half-day trip
- Combine with nearby Haad Salad, a short ride further along the coast
