Wang Sai Waterfall

A quieter alternative

Wang Sai sits just a few minutes from Haad Mae Haad beach on the northwest coast, and it's noticeably less visited than Than Sadet or Phaeng — no tour buses, no crowds around the pools, just the sound of the water. For 50 baht entry, it's also one of the cheapest waterfalls on the island to visit.

What's there

Rather than one dramatic drop, Wang Sai is a series of smaller cascades feeding a handful of natural pools you can move between and swim in. It's a good spot to spend a couple of unhurried hours rather than a quick 20-minute photo stop.

Getting there

From Thong Sala, head toward Mae Haad on the northwest coast — about 25–30 minutes by bike. It's an easy ride compared to the mountain roads up to Khao Ra or Domsila, which makes this a good option if you don't want a steep climb on the way.

When to visit

Like all of Phangan's waterfalls, Wang Sai depends on the season. Rainy season (June–November) is when it's genuinely worth the trip; in the driest months the flow drops off noticeably. Combine with a beach day at nearby Mae Haad or Haad Salad — both are a short ride away.

• Bring small notes for the 50 baht entry — change can be limited
• Fewer facilities than the bigger waterfalls — bring your own water
• Good option if Than Sadet or Phaeng feel too busy in high season
